Carl earned his bachelor of science degree in mechanical engineering from the University of North Florida and his juris doctor degree from Drake Law School right here in Iowa. He built the foundation of his lawyering skills helping real people and organizations as a student attorney at the Drake Legal Clinic. In private practice as an estate planning, business transactional, intellectual property, and real estate attorney since 2015, every day he increases his knowledge in the nuances of those practice areas. Carl is not only licensed to practice law in the state of Iowa, he has also earned the status of federally-registered patent attorney from the United States Patent and Trademark Office.
As secretary and member of the board of the Friends of the Franklin Avenue Library, Carl is proud to promote community education, and as a member of the board of the Iowa Coalition Against Sexual Assault, Carl was especially proud to do a small part in helping to protect human rights across the state.
Carl is originally from southern Illinois. In his spare time, he enjoys exercising outdoors and unwinds by playing bass guitar in bands with his wife Jessica. He has made his living as a machinist, a tractor-trailer driver, and a math tutor.
